The group of Socialists in Parliament proposed prohibiting events that may endanger the integrity, statehood and independence of Moldova. In this connection, the Socialists’ leader Igor Dodon made reference to the Union March that was staged in Chisinau last Sunday, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We will submit today a legislative initiative concerning Article 41 of the Constitution, which refers to the freedom of parties and other sociopolitical organizations, namely to the point saying that the parties and other sociopolitical organizations that plead against political pluralism, the rule of law principles, the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Moldova are unconstitutional,” Igor Dodon said in a press briefing before the March 29 sitting of Parliament. He also said that this initiative is not aimed at limiting the right to freedom of expression and the freedom of assembly. A Union March was mounted in Chisinau on March 25 on the occasion of Bessarabia’s Union with Romania that is marked on March 27.
