Socialist MP Bogdan Țîrdea said those from the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) no longer speak about the return of the US$1 billion stolen from the banking system as they themselves form part of the gang that took part in the robing of the country. Țîrdea, who runs for MP on behalf of the Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists, asked to start criminal cases not only against the potential beneficiaries of the fraud, but also against the participants and accomplices to the theft, such as ministers and deputy ministers, IPN reports.

According to the Socialist heavyweight, the basis for the theft was laid on September 25, 2014, by the decision of the Leancă Government that included Maia Sandu. “On that day, the Leancă Government assumed responsibility for the adoption of the criminal law No. 187 of September 28, 2014, which enabled the National Bank to pervade loans to commercial banks under state guarantees. Maia Sandu, who took part in the meeting as a member of the Cabinet, also voted for this decision,” stated Bogdan Țîrdea.

The MP related that a secret meeting of the Government was held on November 7, 2014. Maia Sandu didn’t take part in it, but delegated deputy minister of education Igor Grosu to attend it. A secret decision was adopted at that meeting, by which the Leancă Government approved the first trance to the value of 9.5 billion lei for the three problematic banks – BEM, Unibank, Banca Socială. The plan to save the national baking system from a collapse that was presented by the then governor of the National Bank of Moldova Dorin Drăguțanu was supported by Candu, Filip, Arapu. These assured that there are filters and that the SIS and the National Bank will monitor the money. Grosu said nothing and supported all those proposals.

Bogdan Țîrdea noted that the arcing president of PAS Igor Grosu contributed to the robbing of the Moldovans, who will have to pay 25 billion lei during 25 years, and now speaks out the fight against corruption and justice. “Now you realize why PAS no longer speaks about the return of the US$1 billion and does not ask Merkel, Macron and the EU to return the money from Western offshore companies. You realize why they don’t ask the EU, the U.S., Kövesi and others to arrest Leancă, Plahotniuc, Drăguțanu and the other offenders. They themselves form part of the gang that took part in the robbing of the country! And also because the participants in the theft are their sponsors,” stated the MP.

He demanded to institute criminal proceedings against the participants in the adoption of the decisions of September 25, 2014 and November 7, 2014.

Contacted by IPN for a comment, spokeswoman for PAS Aurica Rusnac-Jardan said the party does not comment on the insipid statements of election contenders.
