The Cabinet approved a bill providing that a number of types of social leave will be instituted for parents who are in the process of adopting a child, adopted a child or took a child under guardianship, IPN reports.

Among the types of social leave for adoptive parents are the partially paid leave for 60 to 90 days, the fully paid leave for 90 days of the adoption day, regardless of the child’s age, the parental paid leave during the first 12 months of the adoption day for a period of 15 days and the partially paid leave for up to six months for the care of the adopted child who is older than three on adoption day.

The bill ensures greater flexibility in the method of using the parental leave. The father will have the right to use it by parts. A part of this will be of at last five calendar days during 12 months of the birth of the child.

The parents who immediately or shortly after the childcare leave go on another maternity leave will enjoy more options for setting the maternity benefit and child benefit.

The bill is to be considered and adopted by Parliament.
