Social Democracy Party to participate on its own in 2007 local elections

The leader of the Social Democracy Party (SDP), Dumitru Braghis, states that SDP will participate on its own in the local elections in 2007 and possibly at the parliamentary elections in 2009. About this Mr. Braghis declared on Monday, June 19, at a press conference, organized on the occasion of SDP program presentation. According to the quoted source, the decision to participate on its own in the local elections is supported by the whole team of the party, which considers that a party proves its real possibilities when participate in elections without joining other parties. He specified that the SDP candidates for the position of General Mayor of Chisinau and other localities will be known in October. According to Braghis, SDP will initiate a series of national projects on health, modernization of education, producing of ecologic goods, developing wine industry, tourism, implementing advanced modern technologies etc. projects which will be proposed to be debated by the whole society. According to him the international recognition of the permanent neutrality statute of Moldova, uniting the country and implementing the Action Plan Moldova-EU and developing the strategic partnership with the Russian Federation. Dumitru Braghis also informed that SDP wants to involve society into elaborating the party’s emblem project. The contest will take place during June 20-July 20, and the winners will be announced on July 24; SDP instituted 8 prizes amounting to 6 thousand lei. The founding congress of SDP, which declares itself a center party, took place on April 15, 2006, and on June 14 was registered at the Ministry of Justice.
