Over 3 million voters are expected to take part in the snap parliamentary elections in Moldova today, July 11. The State Register of Voters includes 3 282 837 citizens eligible to vote. The polling stations are open between 7am and 9pm. The persons who will not be able to travel to polling stations for health reasons can vote at the place of stay after filing an application to this effect on election day, until 3pm, together with a medical certificate. The voters with symptoms of COVID-19 can ask for the mobile ballot box to vote at the place of stay without presenting a medical certificate, IPN reports.
A total of 3 644 642 ballots were printed for the snap parliamentary elections of July 11, 2021. A number of 2 794 942 ballots will be printed for the 1,959 polling stations established inside the country and 2 112 244 of them will be in Romanian, while 682 698 in Russian. The polling stations established outside the country were issued with 726 700 ballots. The total cost of the print run is 656,035 lei. The price of a ballot is 0.18 lei.
On Moldova’s territory, the citizens can vote with the identity card and the accompanying loose-leaf paper, the temporary identity card and the soldier’s permit. At the polling stations established abroad, the Moldovans can vote with the passport of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova, including expired ones, the identity card of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova and the sailor’s permit.
The elections are monitored by 2 436 national and international observers accredited by the Central Election Commission. Of these, 1,800 are national observers who represent six national public associations, 636 are intentional observers who represent 17 embassies accredited in Moldova, 30 are international electoral experts representing 11 foreign electoral authorities, while 606 are representatives of 14 international organizations.
The 23 contenders registered by the CEC – 20 parties, two electoral blocs and an independent candidate – have 1,791 candidates for MP on their lists. Of these, 53.5% are men, while 46.5% are women.
The electors will put the stamp “voted” against one of the 23 runners:

For the elections to be validated, the voter turnout should be of 1/3 of the citizens eligible to vote. The election threshold for a party is 5%, for an electoral bloc is 7%, while for independent candidates is 2%.
