Smuggled goods, estimated at 1 million lei, were discovered following searches carried out in Comrat and Chisinau. The suspects allegedly brought the goods into the Republic of Moldova from Turkey, without declaring them and without paying import duties, IPN reports.
According to the National Investigation Inspectorate, there were seized significant quantities of branded clothes, perfumery products of famous brands, food products and household chemicals, all without documents of origin. The goods were to be sold in the markets in southern Moldova and in the capital city.
Investigators also seized handwritten documents, information carriers and conversations that could serve as evidence in the criminal case. Investigations continue to establish all persons involved in the smuggling network.
