A Hungarian company is testing the transportation of gas to the Transnistrian region with a number of operators, said Energocom Board member Alexandr Slusari. According to the former MP, the Transnistrian regime rejects the offer of the European Union and Chisinau, "preferring to remain in the gray zone," IPN reports.

Alexandr Slusari noted that gas for the Transnistrian region could be officially paid for through a company based in Dubai, the financing being covered by a loan granted by the Russian Federation. The daily quantity stipulated in the contract is up to 5 million m3. "This vague formula implies the further blackmailing of Chisinau with the return to the purchase of electricity from the MGRES," said Alexandr Slusari.

According to the expert, the Moldovan authorities, beyond thorough checks on the legality of the gas supply scheme on the left bank of the Nistru, are entitled and have all the levers to come up with particular conditions for the first time.

"Transnistria is a component part of the Republic of Moldova and our authorities are obliged to ensure fair competition for all economic agents. It cannot be tolerated anymore that the Transnistrian industry pays symbolic rates for gas and electricity, five times lower than those on the right bank," stressed Alexandr Slusari.

Asked by IPN to provide details, the Government’s spokesman Daniel Vodă has not yet commented on the scenario described by Alexandr Slusari.
