After eight weeks of continuous rise in the number of infections with the novel coronavirus, a slight decrease was witnessed in the municipality of Chisinau last week. But the number of serious and very serious cases of COVID-19 and of associated deaths continues to rise, the head of the General Social Assistance and Health Division Tatiana Bucharski stated in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, being quoted by IPN.
“Of the 1,172 places existing in hospitals, 996 have been occupied. There are 56 patients in a very serious state, 351 patients in a serious state and 587 patients in a moderate state,” said Tatiana Bucharski. She noted that there are no places in intensive care units of the municipal hospitals, which face a serious shortage of medical staff, with many healthcare workers having contracted the virus.
As many as 56,700 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Chisinau by now. A number of 898 infected persons died after developing complications.
