Six ninth graders of the secondary school of Scaieni village of Donduseni district were rushed to the hospital with symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Contacted by IPN, the school’s principal Aurelia Rotari said the institution does not have a centralized heating system and every classroom has its own stove. The fire is made by two persons in charge and she personally checks every classroom every morning. During the last check, she saw no smoke or something that could make her suspect that a stove was faulty. The teachers also noticed nothing wrong.

On Wednesday, when the incident happened, the students had six classes. After lessons, they went to the sport course and then, at 4pm, to the dance course. The first two students had symptoms of poisoning at about 5pm, when they were already at home. Several hours later, four more students were taken by an ambulance to the hospital. As the parents said, their children now feel fine.

An investigation is under way.
