Six oil companies informed the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) about their intention to increase the retail prices of gasoline and diesel fuel by 3.6% – 9.1% or by 1 leu on average per liter of gasoline coded A-95 and 0.98 lei per liter of diesel fuel, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the Agency.
The rise in fuel prices is mainly determined by the significant depreciation of the Moldovan leu against the U.S. dollar.
Price rises were announced by Tirex Petrol (from Feb. 16), Basa Petrol (from Feb. 17), Rompetrol Moldova (from Feb.18), Petrom Moldova and Lukoil (from Feb. 19), and Succes SRL (from Feb. 20).
The ANRE can intervene in the price formation policy only when the oil companies use a profit margin higher than 10%.
