The Ministry of the Interior said the traffic of trucks at the entrance into Romania was eased. Following a meeting of the Prime Ministers of Moldova and Romania in Bucharest this morning and yesterday’s visit to Romania by Minister of the Interior Ana Revenco, urgent measures will be taken as from today to improve the situation in customs posts. There was set up a joint action group that will coordinate and synchronize the immediate activities of the Moldovan and Romanian authorities in border crossing points so as to reduce the waiting time for trucks with freight, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Ministry noted that it was decided that the Leușeni-Albița customs post will be the first post where customs control and clearance will be performed by joint teams. Three will be tested this innovative one-stop single check approach.

It is expected that in several hours since midday, the waiting time at least at the Leușeni-Albița customs post will decrease considerably.

The Romanian and Moldovan officials are making concerted effort to normalize the situation on the Moldovan-Romanian border and to ensure the transportation of freight and food products to Europe so as to avoid creating preconditions for a food crisis in Europe and all over the world.
