Ukraine needs at least five years to stabilize the internal situation, but it will no longer have the initial form and borders. The neighboring country became the victim of the geopolitical games between Russia and the European Union and it’s not right to speak about a Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict. Such opinions were stated by invitees to the program “Place for dialogue” on the public radio station Radio Moldova, IPN reports.

Former Deputy Foreign Minister Valeriu Ostalep said that Moldova will be affected by the events in Ukraine, both economically and politically. Owing to the tense situation in Ukraine, the Transnistrian issue will become more complex and the regional situation will worsen. Moldova can become the victim of a scenario similar to that in Ukraine if the authorities do not communicate with the people and the national minorities.

Victor Juc, vice director of the Institute of Legal and Political Researches of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, said the situation in Ukraine will not stabilize in the near future, while the number of statements made by the world players will increase. It’s not excluded that the great powers will agree a format of negotiations, but a lot will depend on the parliamentary elections set to take place in Ukraine on May 25.

According to Victor Juc, the situation in Ukraine shows that the authorities there didn’t talk to the people before the planned signing of the Association Agreement with the EU. This led to the dismemberment of Ukraine. Moldova also faces such a danger. Having dialogue with the own people is the main lesson the Moldovan authorities should learn from the events in Ukraine.
