Moldova is in a rather serious situation. The state institutions do not function, while the risk of losing the support of the European partners is increasing. Such statements were made in the talk show “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.

Political analyst Vitalie Andrievschi gave as example the situation at Banca de Economii. “Everyone says that a billion lei was stolen, but those to blame cannot be found. It is very hard to get a loan from a bank. The application must be accepted first by the lending expert and then by the lending committee. If the state institutions worked as they should, they would begin with questioning these functionaries so as to get at the ‘big fish’. But the state institutions do not function. In general the state does not function as a system,” he stated.

Political analyst Nicolae Chirtoaca made reference to the 2014 ENP Progress Report for Moldova that was presented by the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola.“This report is very harsh. The EU partners raised the tone and they are right. The Government of Moldova did nothing to implement the Association Agreement with the EU. The situation is very grave and we risk remaining without Europe’s support,” he said.

The head of the public association Institute of European Policy and Reforms Vlad Kulminski said the EU will no longer provide financial support to Moldova. “The European partners were disappointed by the way Moldova’s Government was invested. Now the EU left only a small door open for us. The geopolitical context, namely the war in Ukraine, can make the EU to decide to finance yet some of the areas in our country,” he stated.
