The Democratic Party (PDM) has an expanding group in Parliament. What was known by everyone, but without evidence, is now confirmed by deeds. The “independent” MPs, lured as night butterflies around a bulb, started to join the PDM in groups. The party controls the absolute majority of state institutions, says a new Sic! article.

The authors of the article, which is accompanied by an animation clip, remind about the answer given by one of the Democratic leaders, Andrian Candu, when he was asked by journalist Gheorghe Gonta: “How do you think, when will the parents have sufficient arguments to tell their children that there is no need to leave the country?”  The answer was rather clear-cut for a politician: “In a year at most”. “We speak about jobs. We speak about accessible housing, especially for young people. Many young people go abroad namely because they do not see possibilities of having a home and starting a family in 5-10 years. And we also speak about guarantees and about what public services mean. We speak about medicine, emergency medicine. We speak about social insurance. We speak about economic processes that would ensure at least that minimum subsistence level, but we do not speak about the minimum subsistence level, but about an income comparable with the incomes in the region,” said then Andrian Candu.

In this connection, the authors of the article provide National Bureau of Statistics data saying Moldova’s economically active population (working population plus the employed) in 2016 represented 1 272 800, with no major changes from 2015. The employment rate for persons aged 15 and over was 42.6%, being almost the same as in 2015 (42.4%). However, the structure of the “working population” by areas shows the people working in the construction sector lost 5,000 jobs, those working in industry - 200 jobs, in transport – 100, in public administration, in education and health – 12 500.

In December 2016, Prime Minister Pavel Filip announced the national project “First House” to release preferential loans to young families that want to buy an apartment. Four months later, Pavel Filip said the Government has yet to work on this project. The project continues to have no beneficiaries even if Andrian Candu’s deadline expired. Meanwhile, according to the realty agency Lara, the average market price of a square meter of housing in Chisinau municipality in March 2017 was €528 and remains unchanged for the sixth consecutive month.

The authors note that the external debt managed by the Government at the end of this February was of US$ 1.523 billion, by US$ 190 million higher than last February. The internal debt in the period increased 2.7 times (!), from 7.8 billion lei to 21.4 billion lei.
