Moldova’s football champion Sheriff beat the Azeri team Qarabag 1-0 in the first leg of the playoffs of the UEFA Europa League, IPN reports.
The only goal was scored by Bosnian player Rifet Kapic in the 8th minute. The halfback borrowed from Grasshopper performed a simple formality before the gate. The second leg between Qarabag and Sheriff will be played in a week.
Last year the two teams met in the qualifying competition of the UEFA Champions League. The Azeri team trained by Qurban Qurbanov emerged victorious then.
