Sheriff Tiraspol plays the first match of Group F of the UEFA Europa League in the Czech city Olomouc against Fastav Zlin on September 14. The match starts at 8pm, IPN reports.
“We should not underestimate the opponents. It will be a hard match and I hope we will emerge victorious. We worked hard to reach the Europa League groups,” Sheriff fullback Petru Racu has told IPN.
Sheriff played six matches against Czech teams in the European cups so far, but scored no victory. However, it tied with Slavia in 2009 and reached thus the Europa League groups for the first time.
Group F also includes Lokomotiv Moscow and FC Copenhagen. The first two ranked teams in the group qualify for the 1/16 finals of the competition.
