Sheriff Tiraspol for the second consecutive year have qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Europa League. Moldova’s champion repeated last year’s performance after beating Ki Klaksvik of the Faroe Islands in the second leg of the competition’s playoffs, IPN reports.
After the 1-1 draw in the first leg, Sheriff scored a 2-1 victory at home. The hosts opened the score in the 16th minute through the agency of Henrique Luvannor, who scored with a penalty. The Faroese players tied in the 34th minute through Luc Kassi. Armel Zohouri scored the second goal for Sheriff in the 74th minute.
The team trained by Italian coach Roberto Bordin will learn the opponents in the UEFA Europa League group stage on Friday afternoon.
