Sheriff Tiraspol lost to Partizan Belgrad 0-1 the first leg of the 1/16 finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League. Ricardo Gomes scored the only goal in the 45th minute, IPN reports.

The Serbians played in numerical inferiority since the 50th minute after Igor Vujacic was sent off. The fullback was initially shown a yellow card following a foul on Talal, but German referee Harm Osmers changed his decision after consulting the VAR system. “We controlled the game in an authoritarian way after the sending off, but we didn’t manage to tie regrettably,” said Sheriff coach Roberto Bordin.

The Italian coach Roberto Bordin used the following players: Koval, Kiki, Zohouri, Garananga, Kpozo (Gliga 90+3), Atiemwen, Talal (c) (Moumouni 52), Badolo, Kyabou (Radeljic 80), Diop, Tapsoba.

The game in China was played without spectators, at the suggestion of the Moldovan authorities. The return match will be played in Belgrade next week.
