Sheriff qualifies for third round of Champions League

Sheriff Tiraspol has easily qualified for the third qualifying round of UEFA Champions League. Moldova’s champion beat Sutjeska away, IPN reports.

After scoring a 2-0 victory in Tiraspol, Sheriff won again in Montenegro by 0-3. Montenegrin footballer Goran Vujovic was eliminated in the 11th minute, when the score was already 0-1. Fred Benson of the Netherlands scored the first goal for Sheriff in the 5th minute. The last edition’s top scorer Henrique Luvannor increased the difference in the 35th minute. The final score of 0-3 was set by Bulgaria’s Ismail Isa in the 55th minute.

“Our objective is to qualify for the Champions League. I hope we will succeed to qualify this summer,” Sheriff coach Veaceslav Rusnac told a news conference after the match.

In the third qualifying round, Sheriff meets Slovakia’s champion Slovan Liberec.
