Sheriff failed to qualify for the playoffs of the UEFA Champions League. The team from Tiraspol lost the second leg to Qarabag 1-2, IPN reports.

Vitalie Damascan had a good play, but missed two occasions for scoring. The Azeri team gave the blow in the overtime of the first half, through the South-African player Dino Ndlovu. Spanish footballer Michel doubled the advantage in the 86th minute, while the final scoreline was set by Ziguy Badibanga in the 90th+4 minute from a penalty kick.

“We didn’t deserve such a result. If we had scored the first, the play would have been different,” Sheriff coach Roberto Bordin told a news conference.

Sheriff will continue the European path in the playoff round of the UEFA Europa League
