Sheriff leave UEFA Champions League

Sheriff Tiraspol have left the current edition of the UEFA Champions League after suffering defeats in both of the legs against Viktoria Plzen of the Czech Republic by 1-2, IPN reports.

In the return match played away, Sheriff scored from a penalty kick, as in the home match. The goal was also scored by the Nigerian striker Akanbi Rasheed. Coach Stjepan Tomas used the following players: Abalora, Kpozo, Ouattara (Julien 80), Badolo (Botos 69), Kiki, Mudasiru, Kyabou, Pernambuco (Tejan 46), Evangelou, Borges, Rasheed.

Despite the defeat, Moldova’s champion continues to compete in the playoffs of the UEFA Europa League, where they will meet Eugeniu Kochuk’s team Pyunik Erevan. The first leg will be played away on August 18, while the return game in Chisinau on August 25.
