Sheriff become Moldova’s champion for 12th time

Sheriff Tiraspol have won the 12th title of football champion of Moldova. They secured a new trophy after beating Zimbru Chisinau 2-0. Both of the goals were scored in the first half by Marko Markovski and Veaceslav Lisa.

Sheriff spoiled the holiday of Zimbru, which celebrated the 66th anniversary of the club’s foundation on May 16. Sherriff now have an advantage of 12 points against Dacia and cannot be outstripped.

Founded in 1997, Sheriff Tiraspol have won 12 national titles, seven Cups and four Super Cups of Moldova as well as two CIS Cups, and played in the Europa League groups.

Rapid Ghidighici missed the chance to strengthen the fifth position in the championship after being defeated by Speranta Crihana Veche 0-3.

The other games of the 31st stage will be played on May 17.
