Sheriff lost the November 7 match to Tottenham 1-2 and diminished thus its chances to qualify for the 1/16 finals of the Europa League. In the other match of the group, Anji beat Tromso 1-0 and is 5 thus points ahead of Sheriff, IPN reports.

Before the match on White Hart Line Stadium, Tottenham was the only team that scored no goal in the current edition of the Europa League. Sheriff was close to scoring in the first half. Bulgarian striker Isa hit the bar in the 25th minute, while two minutes later Ricardinho missed the goal.

After the break, Tottenham was more dangerous. In the 56th minute, Tomic saved the goal after Eriksen made a shot from a great distance. However, four minutes later, the Croatian was unable to intervene. Argentite’s Erik Lamela opened the score. Seven minutes later, Jermain Defoe scored from a penalty by Lamela.

Ismail Isa scored for Sheriff in the 72nd minute, but the team from Tiraspol was unable to tie. “It’s a pity that Sheriff scored when we dominated the game. Anyway, we scored the fourth victory in a row,” said Tottenham coach Andre Villas-Boas.

In order to qualify, Sheriff must defeat Anji away and Tromso at home, while Anji must not win against Tottenham away in the last match.
