Sheriff Tiraspol lost to Shkendija Tetovo 0-1 away in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, IPN reports.

The champion of Macedonia scored the only goal in the 24th minute through Besart Ibraimi. The 31-year-old striker scored from a free kick. “We had a number of occasions for tying,  but, regrettably, didn’t manage to score. I think the qualification chances are yet equal,” Sheriff coach Goran Sablic told a news conference.

The second Sheriff - Shkendija encounter will take place in Tiraspol on July 31. In the third qualifying round, the winner will play against Austria’s champion Salzburg.
