Seven Moldovan judo players will take part in the European Judo Championships that will take place in Hungary’s Budapest on April 25-28.

The seven do not include the national squad leaders Sergiu Toma and Ion Remarenko. The two as well as Victor Skvortsov are playing for the United Arab Emirates for which they made their debut in the Asian Championship last week.

Toma and Remarenko took part in the 2012 London Olympic Games. In 2011, Toma became European vice champion and medaled bronze at the world champs. This year he was named the best Moldovan sportsman.

Marcel Trudov and Valeriu Duminica are now considered to have greatest chances of winning medals. Hopes are also high for Igor Soroca sau Octavian Nacu. It will be the first important competition for the national team’s new coach Veaceslav Bacal, who hopes that his pupils will win at least one medal.
