At most seven candidates will contend for the post of mayor of the municipality of Cahul in the November 5 general local elections. Two candidates were already registered, while the files of five of the aspirants are being examined. The deadline for submissions was October 6.
Contacted by IPN for details, Veronica Usatenko, secretary of the Cahul District Electoral Council, said that the registered candidates are Marcel Cenușa, of the Party of Socialists, and Nicolae Dandiș, an independent candidate.
The files submitted by Valentin Komanich, of the Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova, and Dmitry Moruz, an independent candidate who presented the subscription lists with signatures of supporters, are under examination.
The last aspirants who applied to be registered are Vitalie Carp, of the Chance Party, Petru Burlacu, of the Party of Communists, and Iurie Muntean, of the Common Action – Civic Congress Party.
The election campaign for all the registered candidates started on October 6.
