Sergiu Mocanu stays in jail

Politician Sergiu Mocanu will stay in jail for other 15 days. The Buiucani district court from Chisinau announced this decision on May 27. His lawyer Ion Dron has told Info-Prim Neo the prosecutor asked to prolong the term with 30 days, but it was halved after the lawyer's intervention. “Sergiu Mocanu is suspected of having organized and led the protests in Chisinau's downtown on April 7.” According to the barrister, the previous accusation of usurping the state power, “is a spare accusation count, which will be incriminated to Sergiu Mocanu after he is freed.” Ion Dron has added that, during the court session, the court's premises were “swarming with policemen in dressed as civilians.” Sergiu Mocanu is jailed in penitentiary 13 from Chisinau. On April 8, at 10.30, he was arrested in the street by ten civilians, who said they were policemen, but did not identify themselves.
