The leader of the People’s Movement “Antimafie” Sergiu Mocanu said the state was robbed of 2.1 million lei by Liberal-Democratic MP Ivan Ionas.

In a news conference at IPN, Sergiu Mocanu stated that the money was transferred to the accounts of a construction company owned by the Liberal-Democratic lawmaker that, as a result of certain agreements, won the tender contest for rehabilitating a road of local importance in Cantemir district and for renovating a kindergarten.

According to the business plan, a road portion of 1.3 km was to be paved in Cociulia village, but works were performed only on 730 meters, said Sergiu Mocanu. “The works were of a poor quality and were carried out without the necessary technical documentation only for the purpose of using the money by this yearend. The sand was of a poor quality. It was brought from the neighboring village though the documents said that it was conveyed from a distance of 100 km,” stated the leader of “Antimafie”.

Sergiu Mocanu said the head of Cantemir district Andrei Malashevski refused to sign the documents for transferring the money to the accounts of the mentioned company. Thus, the transfer was made by the Government, directly to the budget of Cociulia mayor’s office that is managed by a member of the Liberal Democratic Party. Ivan Ionas received the money without having the necessary documents.

According to Sergiu Mocanu, the deputy head of the Liberal Democratic Party Ion Balan sent a letter to the Prosecutor General’s Office, asking that Andrei Malashevski be held accountable for abuse of power, as he refused to sign the documents for transferring money to Ionas’ company.
