The acting head of the Moldovan Railways, Serghei Tomsa, has resigned. The information was confirmed for IPN by the director of the Public Property Agency, Roman Cojuhari, IPN reports.

According to the head of the APP, the request has not been accepted so far.

"We are discussing with Mr. Tomsa, maybe we can convince him to stay in office and manage the enterprise. If not, he should at least stay until we identify another person who could take his place," Roman Cojuhari said.

Serghei Tomsa had previously submitted a resignation request, but withdrew it. He has been acting as acting director general of the Moldovan Railways since February 2024, after the former head of the enterprise, Oleg Tofilat, resigned.

The enterprise is facing a difficult economic situation, with wage debts of more than 191 million lei, according to railroad union leaders. CFM employees have organized several protests, with a new action announced for 28 February.
