Moldovan canoeist Serghei Tarnovschi won the bronze medal in the C1 1000m competition at the Canoe Sprint World Championships in Milano, IPN reports.
He was bested only by Germany's Sebastian Brendel and Czech Republic's Martin Fuchs. This achievement qualified Tarnovschi for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Last year, Tarnovschi won the gold at the Nanjing Olympics. This year, he became world champion among juniors.
His brother, Oleg Tarnovschi, will compete in the 200m event.
