Sergei Anastasov, who ran as an independent, kept the post of mayor of the municipality of Comrat. In the runoff vote, he won 58.52% of the ballot, IPN reports.
According to the Central Election Commission’s data, his challenger Nicolai Dudoglo, ex-MP, polled 41.48% of the vote.
Sergei Anastasov won the third term in office as mayor of the municipality of Comrat. At the 2015 election, he ran on behalf of Our Party and won the mayoralty with over 55% of the poll. At the 2019 election, he contended as the representative of the Party of Socialists and won the election by an overwhelming majority of over 94% of the vote.
