“In Moldova, only the rights of a man – Mister Vladimir Voronin, the president of 46% of the Moldovan population are fully, and even over-respected,” Serafim Urecheanu, the leader of Moldova Noastra Alliance, stated on Wednesday, December 10, Info-Prim Neo reports. At a news conference, dedicated to the International Day of Human Rights, Serafim Urecheanu said that, “In Moldova, the human rights are glaringly violated and the leadership does nothing to protect citizens.” During 8 years of Communist government, the country has regressed in terms of democracy, and a proof can be the fact that this country is continuously submitted to the longest and most shameful monitoring from the Council of Europe,” the AMN leader added. Serafim Urecheanu said that the governance infringes both the right of the opposition parties and deputies, and the citizens’ rights to be informed, in order to make a conscious election. According to Urecheanu, following the meeting of the AMN deputies with the voters from Ocnita district, teachers and schoolmasters would have been invited to the Prosecutor’s Office to give explanations why they had participated in the meeting. A director of the District Direction of Education, Youth and Sport would have banned all district school directors to allow “meetings of political, national, chauvinistic, religious and militaristic propaganda.” “In other districts, led by Communist heads, the citizen’s rights to opinion are violated. Instead of ensuring conditions for meeting deputies and voters, the authorities calls the voters to give explanations,” AMN deputy Leonid Bujor, a member of the Parliamentary Committee for Human Rights, said. The AMN leader reiterated that the party would participate alone in the elections of 2009, and the AMN's lists will include only the party’s members. The AMN hopes to repeat the results of the Democratic Moldova Bloc in the 2005 elections and win 35% of votes. Serafim Urecheanu is sure he will become the president of Moldova.
