Serafim Urecheanu appointed Audit Office president

The parliamentary majority unanimously voted in the former leader of the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) Serafim Urecheanu as president of the Audit Office on April 21. The Opposition MPs were absent from the sitting, Info-Prim Neo reports. Serafim Urecheanu swore an oath from the Parliament's central rostrum and was congratulated by his colleagues from the ruling alliance. “Time will come when we will be proud of the performance of the Audit Office. God help us,” Serafim Urecheanu said, stressing he will be impartial in his work and will favor no political party. The position of Audit Office president is incompatible with a political post. Thus, the ex-leader of the AMN, which merged with the Liberal Demarcation Party, will have to abandon politics. The Communist lawmakers did not attend the sitting. Earlier, they said that Serafim Urecheanu does not meet the requirements for the post of Audit Office president and that the ruling alliance aims in fact to deal with the companies that inconvenience the power.
