“The visa liberalization process confirms one of the EU four fundamental freedoms – the free movement of people, which must be regarded as a value of major importance for the democratic development of the region”, reads the final statement of the 9th Conference of the Speakers of Parliament of the SEECP. The Moldovan delegation that participated was led by the First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Statement mentions that the best way to maintain stability in the region is to encourage and promote cooperation between the countries and to offer a clear perspective of joining the EU. The Declaration calls on all SEECP member countries to participate in the development of a new parliamentary institutional platform for the SEECP, according to regional interests and priorities.
The Conference participants salute Croatia’s progress, which finalized the negotiations with the EU and the progress of other potential candidates and countries that wish to obtain the candidate status.
During the Conference, Vlad Plahotniuc had bilateral meetings with Ranko Krivokapic, Speaker of Montenegro, and Trajko Veljanoski, Speaker of Macedonia. They discussed about enhancing bilateral relationships, especially at parliamentary level, extending the bilateral juridical framework, improving economic relationships and facilitating the visa regime. Montenegro was invited to join the Common Visa Center in Chisinau.
