The interparliamentary security summit “Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine: Eastern Partnership and current security challenges” that will take place in Chisinau on March 2 is of very great importance. This means the initiation of a dialogue between the three states that could lay the basis of cooperation mechanisms in the field of security. The issue was discussed in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Expert in security issues Rosian Vasiloi said it is good that a dialogue is initiated between the three countries. “I hope a lot that particular cooperation mechanisms in the security sector will be developed as a result of this dialogue as we face many common risks, threats and vulnerabilities. Unilaterally, it is very hard to cope with these vulnerabilities. It is good that there is a start. We should discuss these subjects, but should be very pragmatic as we have many common points that we should develop and there should be reciprocal support between the three states,” stated the expert.

Colonel in reserve of the Security and Intelligence Service Alexandru Popescu said the upcoming summit is of very great importance. Such an event is necessary not for placing an asterisk, but for initiating measures that will have continuity. They now speak about a parliament rat platform based on which the summit will be organized, but in the future should take steps to ensure cooperation between the bodies of the executive and the law enforcement agencies so as to identity dangers, ways in which these manifest themselves and methodologies. “The dangers should be annihilated and measures should be taken to defend security and not to allow the situation to develop in a destabilizing way,” stated Alexandru Popescu.

According to the website of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, on March 2 Chisinau will host the high-level interparliamentary security conference “Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine: Eastern Partnership and current security challenges” that will center on such issues as misinformation, information and energy security and common current challenges, economic growth and rule of law within the Eastern Partnership.
