Chairman of the Union of Private Transporters (UPT), Gheorghe Rusu, claims that the drivers of several authorized public transport minibuses from Chisinau could spend from MDL 4 thousand to MDL 10 thousand for the second stage of the technical revision, scheduled for October 16-24.
Rusu declared for Info-Prim Neo that the drivers of certain minibuses older than 15 years must replace the tires and other parts of the car, must paint the vehicles etc., that could add up to MDL 4-6 thousand of even MDL 10 thousand.
Besides this, the owners of private re-equipped minibuses, that make up 65% of all units, could have their vehicles removed from public transport activity, according to the Government order from this July, that plans the elimination by the end of this year of minibuses produced in 1991 and 1992, and by end of the next year the other re-equipped vehicles could follow. Rusu claims that UPT addressed several requests to responsible bodies and hopes to obtain the modification of the decision that could leave without financial resources 10 thousand persons. By now, neither the Government, nor the interim mayor have responded to the transporters.
Moreover, the recent decision of Vasile Ursu regarding the organization of the second stage of the technical revision of the minibuses does not mention about the activation status of reutilized minibuses, although the local public administration could declare a moratorium on the Government decision, Rusu claims.
The decision of the interim mayor states that the second stage of the technical revision foresees “the verification of the technical status and exterior aspect of the vehicles, and will be done according to the technical revision instructions for minibuses authorized for passenger transport in Chisinau municipality, approved by the City Hall decision”. The results of this inspection will be presented on November 15.
The technical testing of the minibuses will be done by 6 stations equipped with modern testing equipment, including Autotest, Opel, Moldkargo.
