According to the web-site www.vinmoldova.md, the second festival of Moldovan wine will take place during October 21-22, in the Constitution Square from Bucharest, Romania.
President of Romania, Traian Basescu, suggested last year that this festival should become traditional. According to the head of the Analysis, prognosis and promotion Department at the Agro-Industrial Agency „Moldova-Vin”, Iurie Mudrea, approximately 30 wine companies from the Republic of Moldova will be present within this festival. Companies like "Acorex Wine Holding", "Cricova" , "Milestii Mici", "Aroma", "Vinaria Purcari" etc will attend it.
The exports of the Moldovan wine on the Romanian market have significantly increased in the last year: from USD 404 thousand in the first seven months of 2005 to approx. USD 11.3 million in the same period of 2006.
The study entitled “Opportunities for Republic of Moldova wine producers on the Romanian market” was presented on October 10 in Chisinau, a study realized by the USAID Project “Competition and Evolution of Enterprise Development” (CEED) in collaboration with the State Agency "Moldova-Vin". The report found that the Romanian market has a great importance for Moldova, especially as the republic’s wine industry needs to diversify its markets. The event was attended by numerous representatives of wine companies from RM that had the opportunity to study the current state on the Romanian wine market, particularly consumers’ preferences, the image of Moldovan wines, the competition and the impact on Moldovan wines of Romania joining the EU in January 2007.
