For the 2007 year, the SE “Radiocomunicatii” plans to develop its informational infrastructure by implementing the Wi-MAX – an operative level qualitative technology, meant to provide a vast variety of telecommunication services, including wireless broad band radio communications. According to the Ministry of Informational Development, another priority of the SE “Radiocomunicatii” for this year will be the permanent transfer from the analogical to the digital television, which will allow the reduction of exploitation expenses, the increase of the number of television programs and the improvement of the provided services. In 2006, the SE “State Inspectorate of Communications” has elaborated the plan of terrestrial digital radio-broadcasting in Moldova, further approved by the Regional Radiocommunication Conference. As well, the enterprise has issued more than 2400 radio frequencies and channels to entities and individuals. In October 2006, the Government has taken the decision to restructure the SE “Radiocomunicatii”, with 100% state capital, into a joint stock company, this form, being according to the authorities’ opinion, the most optimal solution for the modernisation of the enterprise. The decision has been taken because the current activity of this enterprise is not up to date with the present requirements and adjusting to international standards would need considerable investments to purchase highly-performing equipment and to implement the new technologies. As well, it has been considered as unavoidable the implementation of digital broadcasting technologies for TV and radio programmes, which solicit expenditures of approximately 3-4 mln euros. For the 2009 year, the Government’s activity program includes the construction of a terrestrial digital television network with national coverage. This network will broadcast 5 TV programmes, in other words, all the TV programmes broadcasted currently in an analogical format by 3 television networks. The State Enterprise “Radiocomunicatii” has been founded in 1948 as a republican Centre of radio broadcasting. The enterprise is authorised to broadcast radio and television programmes on the territory of Moldova.
