Withdrawn and reserve officers of the police and armed forces of the Republic of Moldova sent a letter to President Maia Sandu in which they express their concern about the acute current social, economic and political situation in the country, which, according to them, can lead to significant destabilization of the state of affairs. The open letter was approved in the meeting of the Board of the Patriotic Movement “Save Moldova!” and is supported by representatives of the National Council of the Public Platform “People’s Union”. The signatures call on Maia Sandu, as the Head of State and the guarantor of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, to provide clearer answers to the questions that concern them, IPN reports.

The letter says that according to press reports, foreign state and private bodies obtained access to secret information, including information classed as ‘of special importance’. They ask why access to such type of information was offered to them and why the President does not take all the possible measures for these actions that can be considered criminal to be suppressed and prevented in the future.

The signatories also ask Maia Sandu when demands will be addressed to the U.S. Ambassador and when an official protest note will be presented in connection with his intervention in the activity of the Security and Intelligence Service, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Central Election Commission. They consider the actions of the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Derek Hogan and also of Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ioniță and the Head of the EU Deletion to Moldova Peter Michalko represent direct pressure on the authorities of a sovereign state and interference in the internal affairs of the Moldovan state.

According to the signatories, foreign judges intend by any means to include Moldova in the list of “leaders” of geopolitical confrontation, turning everyone into involuntary hostage of someone’s interests. They consider preconditions are created for mass protests in Moldova, similar to the Maidan, as it happened in all the countries transferred under foreign control. The signatories urge Maia Sandu to prevent such scenarios in Moldova.

The Public Platform “People’s Union” was launched in the middle of May 2021.
