Sava and Romanov win medals at World University Championships

Two Moldovan freestyle wrestlers won medals at the World University Wrestling Championships in Turkey. Mihail Sava from Hancesti won silver in the 65 kg class, while Alexandr Romanov from Comrat won bronze in the +125 kg class.

On the road to the final, Sava beat Kyrgyz wrestler Chubak Temkrbaev and Russia’s Victor Stepanov. Then, the student of the State University of Physical Education and Sport lost to Meirzhan Ashirov of Kazakhstan 5-10.

At the World University Championships, Moldova was represented by 12 athletes – seven freestyle wrestlers, four Greco-Roman wrestlers and a female wrestler.
