The co-presidents of the political bloc ACUM are calling on their supporters to join a march in Chisinau on Sunday in support of the new government. Maia Sandu and Andrei Năstase advise the public to plan in advance, because “obstacles will be created for sure for those who will want to join”.

“Prepare! Come in advance to town, spend the night over at relatives. Make carpool arrangements. Will they manage to stop our cars? We’ll come by foot! They will hear every our step and will see that Moldova is not theirs, but of the people and of the children of Moldova”, declared Maia Sandu at a press briefing.

According to her, following the February 24 vote, “there is a legitimate Parliament and a legitimate Government, only that Plahotniuc is willing to sacrifice an entire country just to keep his fortune (...) There’s many of us, and when they see and hear us, they will understand that the force of the people is greater than that of the usurper”.

Sandu advised people to be cautious, “for Plahotniuc’s regime will do everything it can to stop you from coming to the People’s March”, as measures could range from suspending bus routes, to threatening drivers, to blocking roads. Sandu also urged the police to make sure that no one is hurt during the rally and that the march can proceed safely.

Andrei Năstase declared that the Sunday event is very important for Moldova. “It is a March of the People, because the people want change. People want freedom, security, prosperity, rule of law and a true democracy”, stated Andrei Năstase.

The politician added that this will be a peaceful march, like all the events held over the years. “I call on Chisinau residents, I call on the suburbanites, let us demonstrate dignity, courage and determination. I call on you to join us. Let the People’s March begin,” declared Andrei Năstase.
