Sancov and Perstneva set seven records at swimming championship

A number of new records were set at the national swimming championship held in Tiraspol. The 16-year-old athlete Alexei Sancov, who already qualified for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, had a remarkable performance, IPN reports.

The swimmer from Chisinau broke three national records in the 400 m, 800 m and 1,500 m freestyle races with the times of 3.52.27, 8.09.96 and 15.23.77 respectively.

The leader of the national women’s squad Tatiana Perstneva also had an outstanding performance. She set four new records in the 100 m butterfly with the time of 1.01.58, 800 m freestyle with 8.54.48, 200 me backstroke with 2.10.17 and 400 m medley with 4.52.18.

Alexandra Vinichenko set a new record in the 200 m breaststroke with the time of 2.33.52. She also won the 50 m and 100 m breaststroke races and the 50 m butterfly race.
