Russian laboratories have confirmed that the Moldovan wines correspond to quality requirements and they are not dangerous for health, the director of the Agricultural-Industrial Agency MoldovaVin, Valeriu Mironescu, told journalists on Friday evening after a meeting of producers, wine exporters and state officials.
He said that samples of wines from caches withdrawn from sale in Russia have been tested, while certificates confirming the quality of Moldovan wines will be shortly delivered to Rospotrebnadzor. Mironescu underlined that samples of Moldovan wines have been delivered to independent laboratories from European countries and the results will be known later.
Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev said after the meeting, which journalists were allowed to attend only at the beginning, that a commission including producers, exporters, central public authorities and banking institutions will be created to estimate the losses suffered after suspension of wine exports to Russia and an action plan will be worked out meanwhile in order to estab;ish normal relations between business partners.
Tarlev said that Moldova will not give up the Russian market, but it does its best to join other markets as well.
Russia restricted the importation of Moldovan and Georgian wines on March 27, at the request of Rospotrebnadzor, saying that they contain pesticides and heavy metals dangerous for health. Moldova exports 80 percent of its wine production to Russia.
