It is now the period when the Moldovans are gathering the technical sorts of grapes and the embargo imposed by Russia on Moldovan wines will seriously affect the ordinary people who earn their living from selling grapes as their price will decrease, director of the newspaper “Ziarul de Garda” Alina Radu said in the public debate “Post-scriptum: What should Moldovan society know and do over the ‘bothering’ statements about the Republic of Moldova made by foreign officials?” that was staged by IPN News Agency.

“Now Russia made us a favor. It criticized us, in parts fairly, and we benefited from the reaction of the foreign officials, who sent messages of support to us. It’s a kind of gift for the country and the government coalition. But this doesn’t mean that we must behave like victims. The wines of a poor quality are probably made incorrectly,” said Alina Radu.

She asked what we should do with the farmers. “They have to sell the grapes at very low prices, while the wine businesses make wine of a poor quality and make profits. The irresponsibility of those who make wines of a low quality will affect the farmers, who will not be appropriately remunerated for their work,” stated Alina Radu.

She also said that it was the Alliances for European Integration (1 and 2) that accepted publicly the course to European integration. “I earlier could not find explanations why the reforms stagnate in our country and we do not have democracy. Now we are considered a success country that is one step ahead,” she stated.

Alian Radu underlined that the people feel the splits inside the government coalition and everything may go wrong if there is no unity in the government. “The government of a poor state should do more. A hungry person cannot love. They want to have money in the pockets and food in the fridge,” she added.

The public debate “Post-scriptum: What should Moldovan society know and do over the ‘bothering’ statements about the Republic of Moldova made by foreign officials?” is the 21st of the series “Development of political culture by public debates”. The project is supported by the German foundation Hanns Seidel.
