The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova considers the participation by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov in the so-called “inauguration” of the Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky is ‘an unfriendly act’, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Ministry.
The Ministry reminds that the so-called presidential election held in the Transnistrian region is illegitimate and contrary to the constitutional framework of the Republic of Moldova. “In this regard, the participation by the Russian ambassador in such actions is considered ‘an unfriendly act’.
The Ministry explained that the involvement of foreign diplomats in activities that can be used for propaganda purposes will never contribute in a positive way to the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict and to the development of bilateral relations based on mutual respect. The Ministry’s position will be communicated to the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the nearest future.
Earlier, the Ministry called on all the foreign partners to refrain from assigning observers to the so-called presidential election in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.
The so-called “inauguration” of the Transnistrian leader also involved the Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and all Moldova Vladimir, who praised Vadim Krasnoselsky for his qualities. “It is not easy to manage a state, to direct the people,” stated the head of the Moldovan Orthodox Church that is canonically subordinated to the Patriarchate of Russia.
