The subcommissions for solving regional conflicts of the Committee for International Cooperation of the Russian-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission will focus on the settlement of the Transnistrian dispute from shared positions and according to the agreed approaches. The given stipulation is contained in the Ukraine-Russia Plan of Action until 2009 signed by the Presidents of the two states, Victor Yushchenko and Vladimir Putin, in Moscow on February 12. According to Ukrainian press reports, cited by Info-Prim Neo, the shared positions and agreed approaches envisage that the Transnistrian conflict will be solved by respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova and granting a special legal status to Transnistria. On the basis of the possibilities and the joint Russian-Ukrainian initiatives put forward at the talks in the 5+2 format, the parties will step up the consultations between the foreign ministries of the two states with the aim of taking coordinated steps for settling the Transnistrian dispute, the Plan of Action stipulates.
