Russia decided to remove the quotas of foreign workers who can be employed by national businesses. The measure applies to all the migrants coming from states that do not have a visa regime with Russia, including Moldova, IPN reports.
According to the electronic version of the daily “Izvestia”, the Russian businessmen will be able to hire as many migrants as they need, based on one patent whose minimum price is 1,500 Russian rubles. A patent is valid only for the region where it was purchased. In the regions where the demand for labor force is not high, the patent will cost more.
Russian employers informed the authorities that the system of migrant worker quotas was inefficient. Before the decision to abolish the quotas was taken, the employers had to submit an application one year beforehand in order to employ a specialist. They also had to inform the competent authorities every time they allowed the workers to go on leave or fired them.
Official statistics show there were 10.6 million foreign workers in Russia in March. Most of them were from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. According to the Moldovan authorities, over 200,000 Moldovans work in Russia.
