Former acting general mayor of Chisinau municipality Ruslan Codreanu runs for mayor as an independent candidate. To be registered as an electoral competitor, on Monday, September 2, Codreanu submitted the documents to the Chisinau constituency electoral council for the registration of the initiative group that would collect signatures from supporters, IPN reports.
Independent candidates must be supported by 5 percent of the number of voters in the constituency, but not more than 10,000 people.
After submitting the set of documents, Ruslan Codreanu told journalists that he was firmly convinced that he would succeed in gaining the confidence of Chisinau, otherwise he would not enter the competition.
Ruslan Codreanu says that one of the reasons for participating in the electoral competition resides in his desire to complete the announced projects. "I want to administrate the city, I want to be employed by the people of Chisinau as city manager, not as a political figure," said Ruslan Codreanu.
Ruslan Codreanu served as acting mayor-general of Chisinau municipality from April 25, 2018 until July 4 this year, when he was dismissed by the CMC.
