Maia Sandu and Igor Dodon, who will compete for the office of President in the runoff elections, must modify their electoral message, said invitees to the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel “Moldova 1”, IPN reports.

Anatol Taranu, director of the Institute for Political Analysis and Research, said Igor Dodon in the election campaign dared to say things that he shouldn’t have said. “Dodon has to pay for a statement he made about Crimea. Such a statement is not appropriate for a candidate for President,” he stated.

Political analyst Corneliu Ciurea considers Maia Sandu also has a problem. “Maia Sandu has a problem owing to the reform in education, namely the video surveillance system, owing to which more than half of the high school, students failed the exams. Now she wants these young people to vote for her. Igor Dodon made statements that are not worthy of a Head of State. Because of these, he will face problems and will be unable to attract the voters of the Democratic Party. The attraction of votes from the supporters of the center is a common problem of the two,” he stated.

Political analyst Valeriu Ostalep considers both of the candidates make a mistake when they focus on geopolitical messages. “The lesson hasn’t been learned for seven years. These elections continued a dilemma created artificially by the government – the confrontation between the East and the West. No matter how hard he tries, Igor Dodon cannot join us to Russia, while Maia Sandu cannot join us to the European Union,” he said.
