The Rubicon Ultramarathon, one of the most ambitious sporting events in the region, returns in 2025, bringing a major challenge for running enthusiasts. This time, the route will symbolically connect two capitals, with the start in Bucharest and the finish in Chisinau, IPN reports.
The race will take place between February 29 and March 2 on a route of 482 kilometers, passing through 10 regions in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The organizers promise an unforgettable sports experience, meant to combine physical performance with the values of unity and cooperation between Bucharest and Chisinau.
Preparations for the Rubicon Ultramarathon 2025 are already in full swing. The event is the result of a partnership between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, materialized through a cooperation agreement in the field of sports. The main goal is to promote mass sports on both banks of the Prut River and to strengthen the cultural and sports ties between the two states.
State secretary for sport of the Republic of Moldova Sergiu Gurin and the vice-president of the National Sports Agency of Romania Tomas Moldovan had organizational discussions. "It's more than just a contest. It is a symbol of unity and cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Moldova," said Sergiu Gurin.
The first edition of the Rubicon Ultramarathon, organized last year, brought together over 200 runners, marking a notable success and paving the way for a large-scale sporting tradition.
This year, the complex route of the ultramarathon offers participants the opportunity to experience varied landscapes and physical challenges over long distances, in a context that emphasizes unity and friendship.
The event is expected to attract athletes of all levels, as well as spectators eager to support this initiative that is meant to highlight the special relations between the two banks of the Prut.
